This is a design of a two-sided conference poster that communicates a large amount of informational text while aligning with the ideas of the Type, Text, Talk Conference. The central problem lay in presenting dense, text-heavy content in a way that wouldn’t overwhelm the audience, but instead guides them through the information with clarity, hierarchy, and visual appeal. The poster needed to function both as an announcement and an informative tool, as well as an appealing and dynamic visual. Balancing conceptual strength with usability.
The project explored how typography itself can shape the way we communicate and understand information. By examining how different typographic qualities, such as: scale, weight, rhythm, and spacing, affects the clarity and tone of a message. Through brainstorming and multiple studies, to push the text beyond its purely functional role into an expressive design element. This process highlighted the dynamic and playful qualities that make typography so exciting while ensuring the information remained accessible.
Ultimately, the final solution highlighted the juxtaposition between typefaces by setting different fonts side by side to showcase their contrasts. This approach not only exemplified their unique qualities but also cultivated a deeper appreciation for each letterform. By doing so, the design communicated the dense material more effectively while engaging the audience through strong visual appeal. The result emphasizes typography’s unique ability to guide, emphasize, and even start a conversation with the reader. Imagine walking up to the poster and feeling as though the words are speaking directly to you, pulling you in, and pointing you toward the heart of the conference. That was my goal: to create a design where typography doesn’t just deliver information, but sparks curiosity and invites the audience to engage with the content on a deeper level.
